Members of The Emerald Coast Public Relations Organization (ECPRO) invite you to join them for the July 23 Lunch and Learn program at AJ’s on the Bayou.

Rick Scott, lecturer and chair of the Department of Communication at the University of Florida, will speak about the new Bachelor of Arts in Communication degree that UWF will be offering in the fall. The four-year degree will prepare students to build successful careers in today’s communication professions.
Scott joined the communication department at UWF in 1999, following his retirement from the U.S. Army. During his 20 years at UWF, Scott has taught public relations principles, PR writing, communication management, media relations and crisis communication.
He is accredited in Public Relations (APR) and is a Certified Public Relations Counselor (CPRC). During his military career, he served in a variety of command and staff assignments, culminating as a spokesperson for the Department of Defense and director of public affairs planning for the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
Scott is a three-time recipient of the UWF Distinguished Teaching Award and was recently named to the UWF Teaching Hall of Fame. He is also the recipient of the Doris Fleischman Unsung Hero Award from the Florida Public Relations Association for consistently providing support and assistance to that association.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Florida State University and a master’s in journalism from the University of South Carolina.
