The Emerald Coast Public Relations Organization, (ECPRO), was organized to foster an interest in the public relations field, to encourage professional development for those employed in the field, and to maintain a high degree of standards and ethics in the performance of public relations.
The Emerald Coast Public Relations Foundation, Inc. was established in 2007 as a 501 (c)(3), nonprofit charity to support education and advancement in the public relations field.
The focus of the educational support in the beginning was to provide awards and recognition of public relations and media achievements at the middle school and high school levels. However more recently, the focus has shifted to scholarship awards for the advancing high school senior.
The ECPRO Foundation provides scholarships to worthy high school students who intend to pursue a higher education field of study in public relations, communication, marketing or journalism.
The Emerald Coast Public Relations Foundation, Inc. is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and a Member-At-Large. The Board is elected by members of the Emerald Coast Public Relations Organization, Inc., a 501(c) (6) professional organization and Board members receive no compensation for their service as members of the Foundation board.
The Emerald Coast Public Relations Foundation provides scholarships to worthy high school students who intend to pursue a higher education field of study in public relations, communication, marketing or journalism.
CRITERIA: High School senior residing in Okaloosa, Walton or Santa Rosa counties, a U.S. Citizen, planning a college or university major course of study in public relations, communication, marketing or journalism.
COMPLETED APPLICATION: Available in high school guidance offices or online at emeraldcoastpr.org
GPA: 3.5 or higher
ESSAY REQUIREMENT: An original typed, double-spaced 200-300 word essay addressing an ethics issue in public relations or journalism.
SERVICE ACTIVITY: A listing of community service or leadership activities not to exceed one page.
DEADLINE: March 1, 2019
SELECTION: Applications and essays will be evaluated by a selection committee comprising members of the Emerald Coast Public Relations Organization and the Emerald Coast Public Relations Foundation. The committee will rate applicants based on GPA, SAT or ACT scores, essay quality and community involvement.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: The award will be paid directly to the college or university following registration of the winning applicant at that college or university within one year of award date.
