The Emerald Coast Public Relations Organization (ECPRO) chapter would like to welcome you to their meetings. ECPRO members are employed in a wide variety of fields including public relations, marketing, advertising and the media. Anyone involved in the art of “communication” will benefit from the ECPRO experience!

Cost: $15.00 for members; $25.00 for non-members; $10.00 for full-time students. If you do not want to eat but want to hear the speaker, the cost is $10.
Guests: Guests are always welcome and should bring business cards for networking. Don’t forget a few extra dollars for business announcements.
This month’s program will be presented by Lance Kinney, Ph.D., a tenured associate professor of advertising and public relations at The University of Alabama. His presentation is titled “Dolly Parton: Crisis Communication CEO.” In the presentation he discusses Parton and her high-profile response to the Gatlinburg wildfires.
Dr. Kinney has a B.A. in communication from Auburn University, Auburn, Ala. Following an ad agency account executive job, he earned an M.A. in advertising from the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia. After stints as a communications coordinator with a client firm and account executive with a J. Walter Thompson subsidiary, Dr. Kinney earned a doctorate in mass communication theory and research from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida. He has been teaching media planning, strategy and research since 1991.
Dr. Kinney pursues an extensive program of integrated marketing communication strategy research, including ad response as a function of program involvement, film product placement, event sponsorship and mass media effects. Dr. Kinney’s research has appeared in Journal of Sport Marketing, Psychology and Marketing, Journal of Promotion Management, International Journal of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship, International Journal of Integrated Marketing Communication, numerous conference proceedings and a number of book chapters. Dr. Kinney has addressed many national and international public relations, advertising and marketing organizations, including the American Academy of Advertising, the American Marketing Association, the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, National Communication Association, North American Society for Sports Marketing and Management, the International Country Music Conference and the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. Dr. Kinney is also on in-demand speaker on the professional circuit, addressing professional groups on research techniques, data analysis, and sponsorship strategies, along with other integrated marketing communication topics.
Join ECPRO at Chapala’s Mexican Restaurant, 67 Eglin Pkwy. NE, Fort Walton Beach, 32548, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. August 28 to hear Dr. Kinney and learn how to handle a crisis using different crisis response strategies.
